Abdullah: Israel keeping Jordan from developing peaceful nuclear program

Haaretz 2010/6/15

Jordan's King Abdullah accused Israel on Tuesday of trying to prevent his kingdom from developing a peaceful nuclear program, aimed at producing energy. The king revealed in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that Israel had approached South Korea and France with requests to refrain from selling Jordan nuclear technology. Israel's "underhanded" actions are adding tension to already strained relations with Jordan, bringing ties between the two countries to their lowest point since they signed a peace agreement in 1994, the king said. "There are countries, Israel in particular," Abdullah told the Wall Street Journal, "that are more worried about us being economically independent than the issue of nuclear energy, and have been voicing their concerns.""There are many such reactors in the world and a lot more coming, so [the Israelis must] go mind their own business," he added. ... A Dangerous Silence

The Huffington Post 2010/4/12

I weep as I witness outrageous verbal attacks on Israel. What makes these verbal assaults and distortions all the more painful is that they are being orchestrated by President Obama. For me, the situation today recalls what occurred in 70 AD when the Roman emperor Vespasian launched a military campaign against the Jewish nation and its ancient capital of Jerusalem. Ultimately, Masada, a rock plateau in the Judean desert became the last refuge of the Jewish people against the Roman onslaught. ...

Mark 13:13-19 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains: And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house: And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment. But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter. For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be.

...I weep today because my president, Barack Obama, in a few weeks has changed the relationship between the U.S. and Israel from that of closest of allies to one in which there is an absence of trust on both sides. The contrast between how the president and his administration deals with Israel and how it has decided to deal with the Karzai administration in Afghanistan is striking. ... Iraq's security key to Mideast stability: Jordanian king

Peoples Daily Online 2010/4/9

King Abdullah II of Jordan on Thursday emphasized that restoring Iraq's security and stability is a fundamental element in realizing stability in the Middle East, the state run Petra news agency reported. During a meeting with Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdul Mahdi in the Jordanian capital of Amman Thursday, Abdullah II stressed Jordan's full support to Iraq. The Jordanian leader and Mahdi looked into the developments of the political process in Iraq as the king extended congratulations over the success of the latest Iraqi elections. The Iraqi official, who is in Jordan as part of a regional tour, voiced his country's appreciation of Jordan's support to Iraq, stressing his country's keenness to foster ties with the Arab kingdom. Jordan hosts about 400,000 to 450,000 Iraqis who fled their country in the aftermath of the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq in 2003. ... (... the rest of the story >>)

Jordan and U.S. Move Closer to Nuclear Pact

The Wall Street Journal 2010/2/10

Jordan is in advanced talks with the Obama administration to conclude a civilian nuclear-cooperation agreement with the U.S., according to Jordanian and U.S. officials. Successful completion of the negotiations would make Jordan the second Arab state in less than a year, following the United Arab Emirates, to secure nuclear assistance from Washington. Any pact would constitute an international treaty and need the approval of Congress. The talks come as Iran is accelerating its production of nuclear fuel, raising the prospect of an expanding nuclear-arms race in the Middle East. An accord with King Abdullah II's government in Amman would allow U.S. firms to transfer nuclear equipment, fuel and expertise to Jordan ... (... the rest of the story >>)

Jordan strips Palestinians’ citizenship

The Jerusalem Post 2010/1/2

A US-based human rights group criticized Jordan Monday for stripping the citizenship of nearly 3,000 Jordanians of Palestinian origin in recent years. Nearly half the kingdom's 6 million people are of Palestinian origin and Jordan fears that if Palestinians become the majority, it will disrupt the delicate demographic balance. Concerned about increasing numbers of Palestinians in the country, Jordan in 2004 began revoking citizenship from Palestinians who do not have the Israeli permits that are necessary to reside in the West Bank. Human Rights Watch said Jordan stripped about 2,700 Jordanians of Palestinian origin of their citizenship between 2004 and 2008 and urged them to restore their full rights. The trend continued last year .... ...Jordanian Interior Minister Nayef al-Qadi recently said the government wants Jordanians of Palestinian origin to clarify their status by renewing permits that recognize them as West Bank citizens in order to preserve their Palestinian identity. Wilcke warned others could be at risk from a similar measure, such as 250,000 Jordanians of Palestinian origin expelled by Kuwait during the 1991 Gulf War. (... the rest of the story >>)

What they're really saying is that they, Jordan, does not want Israel to say that Jordan is the Palestian homeland. Which, by the way, is why the country of Jordan was established in the first place, to be the Palestinian homeland. Reference: HISTORY of Israel & "Palestine"
